Best Way to do Data Backups

Hi Lucas and Scritches team,

I’m looking for the best way to back up my data in case of a major glitch or issue where information could be lost. I’ve been highly recommended to do this regularly, but I don’t see any option to export the data out of Scritches. I’m not overly tech-savvy, so I’d really appreciate any guidance or advice you can provide.

    Hey @Steph Wood , great question! Data safety is something we take very seriously.

    If you'd like a personal copy for extra peace of mind, Scritches has a built-in data export where you can export your client & pet info, invoices, and payments anytime (see Export client email list for mass emailing). Handy for your own records or just in case of a rare AWS outage, or Scritches maintenance window.

    For a little more context, we use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host Scritches, the same infrastructure trusted by Netflix, Airbnb, and major banks worldwide. Your data is encrypted, stored behind private network walls that aren't accessible from the public internet, and runs across multiple data centers so if one goes down, the other picks up.

    Importantly, your data is automatically backed up every single day. If something ever went wrong, we can restore data to any point within the last week.
