Boarding Rates

Boarding/house sitting should be based on 24 hour periods. If a client drops off a pet at 9am Monday, and picks-up that pet 5pm on Tuesday, the rate should be calculated differently. For instance, base/overnight rate plus either a surcharge or base day care rate. My boarding rate would be $45 for 9am Monday to 9am Tuesday, but would be $60 for 9am Monday to 5pm Tuesday.

    I actually prefer the current set up for day based charging. It’s easy enough to add a discount at my discretion for a partial day and clients always love discounts (and hate extra fees).

    I don’t know if it’s possible in this software but in other software, when I did “per 24 hours,” I would have to do the overnight and add daycare cost on to the invoice. I switched to “per calendar day” and I will never go back. So many of my clients would drop off in the AM and not pick up until PM so every invoice had to be manually changed. Then when they’d get back earlier than expected Id have to change the invoice yet again to take off the daycare charge. Going to per calendar day immediately solved all of the manual editing and having to remember what times people actually picked up their dog vs what the invoice was for.
