You're right that there's a gap here. The existing availability/blocked time system favors mostly consistent schedules, and a sort of “unblock” time feature would help give flexibility for non-consistent schedules.
I’ll have to keep thinking about how this could best be supported. The availability system is already quite complex, so I’d want it to slot in without muddying the waters more. I’ll keep thinking on it and leave this as an open feature request. I’m definitely curious to hear from more people who might benefit from a feature like this!

It would be helpful if I could make exceptions to the normal available times on the calendar that normally are not available to unblock days. If, for any service you could add to the days/times selected for available to book by having Availability on Holiday option that negates the normal blocked time and then must go and select which specific holidays (when I’m off my FT job and can pet sit). i.e., I’m normally available evenings and weekends only but also could select a Holiday checkbox that then allows you to select specific days like Christmas, Labor Day, July 4th, etc., or Custom (because I’m available when my company shuts down over the holidays for about 9 days from Xmas to a few days after New Year’s)

My situation is when I am not working my day job on major holidays I want to open up the entire day for bookings. I want to be available for pet sitting those days but they are normally blocked on a recurring basis M-F, 8-6. I need to open availability for entire days for some weekday holidays and for over a week for Xmas and New Year’s.
